About Baidu's Metaverse, Xirang

Baidu's Xirang will achieve three technological breakthroughs, which is vision, hearing, and interaction

While the company didn't go into detail on its technological breakthroughs, it appears that the world will resemble much of what Facebook aims to achieve with their vision of the Metaverse.

Users will be able to log into the world of Xirang via their own computers, smartphones, and wearable devices, create exclusive virtual images, attend meetings, go shopping, chat with others, and participate in events/exhibitions.

Xirang will be launched this 27th December

Xirang's unveiling is expected to take place this 27th December, along with the company's annual AI developer conference.

This time around, Baidu aims to host at least 100,000 people at its AI conference within Xirang, while announcing its future plans and AI breakthroughs.

While it is still too early to tell how Xirang will evolve in the future, the initial phase of the app still lacks much functionality to make it significantly attractive to the public.

That being said, Baidu is actively pushing to onboard more developers and content creators to turn Xirang into an ideal utopia for the masses.

“At present, we are still in a very early stage of industrial exploration of the Metaverse, whose development is gradual and will take a long time for the whole community to jointly build and mature.”, mentioned Ma Jie, Vice President of Baidu.
